Answer in a complete paragraph response:
How has the Communicate module prepared you to meet each standard listed above?
Link to or provide specific examples from your work in Communicate. What strategies will you take away from the Communicate module and apply to your teaching? What lessons were most beneficial for you?
Standard C:The Lesson 4: Discussions was beneficial because of the examples of how students can collaborate with one another. This was an effective way for students to express themselves in a safe and controlled environment. Students can participate at their own pace and interact with others.
Standard D:The most useful lesson for this was Lesson 2: Digital Feedback. Due to the online nature of virtual classes, personalized feedback is essential for communicating effectively with students. After finishing this lesson, I learned several new ways for providing feedback. I particularly liked the cartoons. This is a strategy I will apply to my own teaching.
Standard E: The Lesson 2: Communication Laws provided a list of successful ways to legal and safely use technology. There were excellent resources and webpages for showing students how to identify safe versus unsafe as well as determining the authenticity of a webpage. This is a lesson that I can easily incorporate into my own classroom.
Standard J: The Lesson 4: Communication guidelines was very beneficial in providing a foundation for effective communication with all stakeholders. This lesson identified each stakeholder and the importance of regular and prompt communication with each. There were several modes of conveying information such as newsletter, Smore and webpages.
Standard K: The Lesson 5: Synchronous Session provided a example of an online learning platform. I really like Canvas because of it's user-friendly set up and lay out. This would be an ideal way for students and teachers to communicate. Also teachers can provide online classes and resources. This lesson was very beneficial.
